What is Report + Support?
Report + Support is an online tool where staff and students can report a concern about themselves or another person, anonymously if desired. Report + Support is also home to some information about those various types of concerns, but is also a link to some internal and external support, policies and procedures.

Who can make a report?
BNU students and staff can make a report through Report + Support, but so can visitors and parents if they wish .

What happens when someone makes an anonymous report?
The report will be viewed and triaged by a member of our support services.  They will assess the severity, urgency and nature of the concern and ensure it is suitably prioritised and dealt with by the appropriate people.  We aim to respond to all reports within 3 working days, but more urgent reports will be addressed more quickly. This system should not be used to report emergencies, if someone is in danger or a crime is being committed, phone 999 to contact police, ambulance, or fire services.

What is the difference between anonymous and non-anonymous reports?
BNU does not know who has made an anonymous report, and therefore cannot reach out and provide support to the person making the report. Whereas if someone provides their details then BNU can follow up and offer appropriate support and guidance.

If you are anonymously reporting a concern about another person, as long as you provide their details, we may be able to follow up with them, even if you don’t want support yourself.  If no details are supplied then the anonymous report will be used as statistical data to understand what is happening and to inform proactive prevention work

How will BNU manage malicious complaints?
If a report is found to be malicious or vexatious, such reports will be addressed under existing student and staff procedures.

How secure is the data and information sent through the system?
Data held on Report + Support is GDPR compliant and further information about how data is collected and stored is outlined in the Privacy Notice. The system has been security tested by both the developer, Culture Shift, and by (organisation).

What do you do with the data?
We will only retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil purposes we collected it for. You can find more information in our privacy statement.

Who are the administrators on the system?
The Student Wellbeing Team in the Directorate for Student Success.
