The report will be picked up and reviewed by one of our Safeguarding Officers. They will then signpost it to the Mental health Provision at the University to make an appropriate needs and risk assessment for the individual with self-harm. The learner at risk will then be reached out to and appropriate support will be given to them. The student will be signposted to the GP, 111 or 999 depending on their level of risk/self-harm.

If you are someone who has made the report on behalf of someone else and have supplied your details, they may contact you to make sure they have all the information they need to properly review the case. A member of our wellbeing team may also reach out to you to make sure that you or anyone else involved gets the needed support and appropriate referrals to other services are made for all individuals involved.

If you are making a referral about somebody else, it is likely that we will not be able to tell you about the outcome for that individual, as it will be confidential to the person involved, but your help is essential to us, so please do make a report.

Please be reassured that this process is all about supporting and helping our students and staff.
